blondie did the original - billie and attomic kitten were both with the innocent label , billie sang it but didnt release it, so innocent gave it to AK :)

Actually The Paragons were the original artists back in 1967. Then Blondie covered it. @XOhYhX is right about Billie recording it, then she quit, and Innocent gave it to Atomic Kitten.

to be precise, billie recorded Tide is High before AK. Billie was set to record a new version and release it as a single but then she quit. The following year, AK released it. Indeed, Blondie was the original.
